XLarge x Takashi Murakami Watch

Looks like XLarge is hooking up with renown Japanese artist Takashi Murakami on a watch made by Citizen. The piece features a futuristic animated design, much like Murakami’s cartoony renditions while his artwork is the centerpiece showcased on the backing. Details are dim but it certainly looks like something to look forward to.

Written by graphic designer Cey Adams, with help from noted hip-hop photographer/historian Bill Adler, DEFinition: The Art and Design of Hip-Hop gets to the nuts and bolts of establishing the hip-hop aesthetic. Both Adams and Adler contribute essays, as do notables like Russel Simmons and Sacha Jenkins. Visuals, the driving force behind the book, come from the likes of HAZE and Dapper Dan. Fine arts are also represented, with the work of Mr. Cartoon, Kehinde Wiley and others reproduced and dissected.

Girl Lines need love too! Hellz Bellz Fall 08

The last time the fashion industry experienced a female liberation movement was during the “bra burning 60s.” Bras, high heels, make-up and other items supporting the unattainable, standard of beauty, were lit aflame in a “freedom trash can” to symbolize opposition to sexual oppression.
Since 2005, Hellz Bellz has provided fashion alternatives for the bold fashionista with edgy, graphic tees, jackets, denim and accessories. Designer Lanie Alabanza defies all the rules of conformity and any fashion entity that claims a woman’s style cannot breach strength, individuality and feminine flair simultaneously.
The Delivery II lookbook from the Fall “Bullet Proof Sisters” collection pays tribute to the sexploitation flicks of the 1960’s -70’s that have always inspired Hellz Bellz. The collection is shipping to stores now.
More looks from Hellz Bellz “Bullet Proof Sisters” collection after the jump.

More BBC|ICE CREAM 2008 Fall/winter Collection

Look for the following to line the shelves of BBC Ice Cream’s Hong Kong flagship store this weekend. The almost weekly updates have yielded some interesting pieces from the brand and there’s no exception this week as the highlight piece is that of a satin-like Gore-Tex jacket. Details are minimal although the jacket’s material does irradiate a slight sparkle dependent on the angle the light hits the jacket. A small 3M bow-tie is seen along the collar as well as gaitors at the sleeve. Other items include crewnecks, hoodies, denim and t-shirts. Available this Saturday at BBC Ice Cream Hong Kong.
